The Cambridge inboard hydroplane race week-end has come to an end. Alot of preparation and many volunteer hours go into the races. For me the week-end duties were differnet and fun, scoring. Kim and Shirley performed the intricate duties, data entry, correlating the rule book with inractions, calculating cummulative points, etc. The job comes with a few perks-shade, fans, and food! For this I was grateful as the east coast humidity is KILLING Corky and I!
Today we expect to arrive in Surry, Va to a home cooked meal prepared by Corky's sister. Our rig is going to reside near-by on the parent's "golf course". What's so special about that is the sign Ashlyn(,neice) created for us-"Corky's Corner". We can't wait to catch up with Ashlyn. She has been serving a summer internship at CBN as a graphic artist. WOW! Not surprising, as she has maintained at the least, the Dean's list and sometimes the President's list at Chowan College the ENTIRE four years. Also, I might add she has been awarded more than one scholastic scolarship-she's not even a nerd-ha! Who wouldn't be proud of those accomplishments?
Naturally, I'm anxious to see my sweet little grand-daughters;tomorrow in fact! Just as children should, they are growing up. I love the sound of "hi, Jo-Jo".
My mind is spinning regarding the return to "normal" life. I've spent twelve months figuring out how to unwind, let go of compulsive behavior, etc. This will be interesting. Look out Corky! Name this episode "Return of the Drill Sargent"!
Continue to check in with our journal as I'll keep you posted of hometown life.
