OUR FIRST WALK - 8 KMS

ELDER RANGES

A CLOSER VIEW OF THE ELDERS

PINE CAVE WALK

We decided after all to take a side trip to the Flinders Ranges National Park. We stayed at Rawnsley Park Station and toured from there. After 8 years of drought there had been some rain and much of the area was green pasture again - a sight not seen for 20 years(according to the locals). However none of the creeks had any water, just an odd pool here and there. The scenery here is spectacular so we saw as much as we could with walks and touring. The first day we did an 8km walk (hike)! and then went to see the Sacred Canyon (Aboriginal rock carvings). This gorge was so beautiful even though the waterfall no longer flowed - obviously a special place for centuries.
