|We left home around 9:00am headed about 240 miles to the East to the Adirondack Park. We have reservations to stay at site 13 in Eighth Lake State Park. All the parks in the Adirondack Park are run by the DEC. Bonnie and Liz followed in the Subaru as we wanted a car and they planned to stop in Rome to shop for more food. After a stop on the thruway for Tim Horton’s for the woman we made good time to the Rome exit. We fueled up after we exited the thruway and should be set for the week. Then we took the scenic roads up to the Park through Old Forge, which was packed with people and the roads looked awful narrow driving the motor home. Then on to inlet which was again crowded. We waited there for Bonnie and Liz and they came in about an hour, just as it started to rain. So we followed them about 5 miles to the camp ground. Liz missed the turn, I followed her. She made a u turn and I had to go 5 miles down the road and turn the MH around in a wide spot with Alexus help. All the time it is raining harder and harder. Even the check-in booth was shut down due to the storm. We were told to pull in and we found our site next to the Belden’s. I guess I should explain the players. Eric Belden is Elizabeth’s boyfriend, Ariannah is his daughter, Devin is a cousin, Art is Eric’s dad and Katie is their dog of the Pug breed. We got backed in and visited a little, waiting for the rain to let up. It poured and all was flooded. Luckily it is sandy here and has since drained away. It stopped raining and we turned the MH around and pulled it in so our doors face each other. Its nice and level and we set about cooking supper, grilled chicken, salad, and salt potatoes. Then we had a nice fire and soon it was 10:30 and all headed to bed. We were treated to a fantastic thunder and lightning storm and a real deluge as we were all snug in out beds. After about 30 minutes the rain let up some and it was off to dreamland and a good nights sleep. Perfect sleeping weather.
