| Hi everyone i'm so sorry that i have been really bad at keeping this site up to date but it has been non stop as usual. Just a brief summary of what i have been up to ... Basically I left Bolivia and flew to Brazil arriving after a 30min flight it felt like i really was somewhere tropical. Hot and humid. First stop wasThe Pnatanal the wetlands/jungle, Saw loads of wildlife Camens, Monkeys, otters and millions of mossies, I havent taken the antimalarials that i was given cos seemingly this was not a malarial region. I hope not cos i had plenty of the wee buggers eating me. From the Pantanal I went to Bonito a lovely little town which felt very safe and friendly and i tryed rapelling for the first time. I repelled 75 meters into a cave where i dived in freshwater and saw the amazing stalecmites and rock formations under the water, it was truely amazing! After the dive i had the hard part still to do...I had to rapel back out the same 75 meters that i had desended in the first place. It took 25 mins of hard slog but i did it. what an achievemet. From Bonito I took an overnight bus to Iguazu Falls, These were absoulutely mind blowing The only down side to seeing the falls was that it was raining for the 2 days I was there which made taking photos a nightmare cos my new camera kept getting soaked. I took a speed boat ride into the falls and luckily i was prepared to getwet and was just wearing my bikini and sarong, cos It was like i had been for a swim by the end of it! It was really good fun though. From Iguazu I got another night bus, this was the worst journey to date. It was supossed to last 24hrs anyway which was bad enough buit we had a FATAL ACCEDENT. First of all I'm FINE. What happened was we were on a bus travelling around 60mph and there was a cross roads on the dual carriageway, there was a car coming along the other road and basically noone slowed down or stopped and the bus went straight into the side of the car crushing the drivers side right in. There were 5 people in the car alltogether but the driver and the passanger in the back behind him both died, the other 3 were pulled out by the paramedics think they were all in a bad way but made it. It was strange how little impact we felt on the bus considering how bad the damage was to the car. It was really horrific to see dead bodies just laying there in front of mee and to see how badly the others were when the paramedics pulled them out. I suppose i shouldnt have been watching but it was just something i counldntreally take in at the time. So after a change of bus and driver we carried on for a total of 26.5 hrs. Finally getting to Paraty extremely late I quickly booked onto a diving trip for the following day and went to bed. Next day up early in the beach resort of Paraty, it had finally stopped raining and the sun was shining, i did 2 dives which were really relaxing and enjoyable, not much to see fish wise but it was just nice to be 'under the sea' and spend some time away from the group. Left Paraty headed to the Island of Ilha Grande, I had planned to stay an extra night ( 3 days instead if 2)Day 1 we arrived late only had time for dinner a stop at the Kilo icecream place, (where you fill tubs of icecream and pay by weight, DANGEROUS!!!) and a few drinks before going to bed. Day 2 Me and the other girl from the tour went on a party/snorkelling cruise with another group, it was really good fun we had a BBQ and a good dance on the boat stopped at a few little secluded beaches and snorkelled in a few places too, the wweather stayed great for us all day, it was like the perfect tropical island. : had a really sore throat and even lost my voice completely, knew i was coming down with the cold so i had an early night after booking onto a dive trip for the following morning, being hopefull i;'d feel better. Day 3 the rest of the group were leaving me and i was supposed to stay but the weather had turned and it was raining cats and dogs, not to mention i felt like death warmed up and so decided to give the diving a miss as i couldnt even breath above water never mind under it. I told the tour leader that i was going to come to Rio with the rest and just before we left the dive club called and cancelled the dive for the day too. I guess diving in Ilha Grande(one of the best places in Brazil) was just not ment to be. So i headed for Rio disapointed and feeling like crap in the pouring rain. Lve Em xxx |
