We landed back in the Dominican Republic around 1:30pm and were back in Luperon just in time to dump our stuff on the boat and head out to the playacita (little beach) for a 4th of July party at the beach. It felt good to be home although the boat is a wreck since we brought back 200 pounds of “crap” consisting of everything from parts for the house, high school yearbooks, 40 + years of photos and license plates…don’t even ask. The ice chest is dumped and cleaned with soap, bleach and water but it’s not nearly as bad as I would expect after everything sat unrefrigerated for 2 and ½ months inside. I’ll be sure to empty the ice chest next time we leave for an extended period of time. I had vision of worms and worse erupting from the chest when I opened it back up. Even the egg that got left behind rotted and cracked in the galley is removed and cleaned up in no time. Putting all this stuff away, that may take weeks but I am still fully into the “when in doubt, throw it out” mode so I will be finding a home for it and throwing other stuff out.
