We continued our "vacation" through the month of June in Anacortes, WA. We had a fun, busy month. After our insurance check arrived, we rented a car and spent only 4 days vehicle shopping before finding exactly what we were looking for...a manual transmission 2004 Ford Ranger pick-up truck. It's fun learning to drive a stick shift again after being spoiled with automatics for many years.
Our friends, Robin & George Minder, from Sacramento spent a couple of weeks in the same area so, in addition to going vehicle shopping with us, the four of us played golf, took a ferry ride out to the San Juan Islands, and just spent several days hanging out together. It was really great to see them and we especially want to thank them again for the wonderful steak dinner they prepared for us on the evening of our 30th Wedding Anniversary.
We are currently volunteering at Millersylvania State Park near Olympia, WA. Our spot is beautiful. As you can see by the photo of our motor home, we are surrounded by trees. It was so warm when we arrived on July 1st, that we were thrilled with the shady site. Of course we didn't think about how this would hamper our ability to receive satellite signals. We got the TV up and running after just a couple of days when the ranger pointed out a spot down the hill behind the motor home where a previous host had left a metal stake to mark his TV satellite dish spot. But it took us 4 days of moving our internet dish around from location to location before we were finally able to find a small opening in the trees to get our internet satellite signal.
Now that we have settled in and gotten acquainted with the rangers here, it looks like we may actually stay here through the end of September. A lot depends on how Scotty feels. We expected that he would be back to normal by now, but he has healed very slowly and is still not 100%.
We will be in touch....belated Happy 4th to all.
Kris & Scotty
