The slogan that you read upon entering the tiny town of Nappanee, Indiana is, "Embrace the Pace". Nappanee was just what we needed after the hectic pace of preparing for this trip. Nappanee is not new to us. We've stayed in this tiny town on four or five different occasions, as it is home to the Newmar Corporation, the company that built our current home. Nestled in the heart of Amish country in Northern Indiana, there is a sense of peacefulness and calm that pervades the whole town. The country roads are tree-lined and dotted with farm after farm. Motor vehicles share the roads with horse and buggys, and children run and bike along the country roads without constant parental supervision. Though the economic woes of late have hurt this and surrounding towns, which depend on the health of the RV industry for business, life is still really good here. People seem relaxed and friendly. Things are homemade, homegrown, homespun. While Lev got an oil change on the motorhome, the kids and I shopped for breads, fresh cheeses and meats, and cookies. We only stayed one night, but it was a perfect stop on the way to Wisconsin Dells.
