THis looks like the Alps!

Vicki at Ranchiero Falls

Wonder how this creek got it's name?

Vicki out fished me!

Vicki's backcast caught me off guard!

We got another early start as we wanted to leave the dirt parking lot as soon as possible. Almost immediately we spotted a large Black Bear eating on the side of the road. Vicki took lots of pictures. Shortly we passed more buffalo with more photo ops.

This stretch of road was good but did have some patches of repair work. The day was clear and sunny for the entire day. We stopped at a nice pullout by the Smart River to eat some lunch and do a little fishing. Vicki out fished me again by catching a nice 18” Grayling which we kept for a nice dinner.

We had planned the entire trip to stop at Mukluk Annies on Teslin Lake for a Salmon Bake. As we approached Teslin Lake we saw a sign for Mukluk Annies that said it was closed so we changed our plans. We decided to stay at Dawson Peaks Campground and ate in town at the Yukon Motel RV Park which advertised Halibut but they were not serving Halibut. We have learned not to go anywhere with high expectations and signage means little up here.

Teslin Lake is beautiful, large and full of Lake Trout. We met a couple of Coloradoans that had been fishing on the lake and said that they will never be able to beat the fishing they were having on Teslin Lake. Dawson Peaks Campground is a very nice, small campground set in trees overlooking the lake.
