More Big Buffalo

Entering the Yukon Territory

A Longmont Sign

Our Sign

Our Parking Lot Camp Site

Vicki asked me to get her up early so she could take one last dip but it was raining so we decided to hit the road. Today’s destination is Watson Lake – home of the Sign Post Forest. We saw more Buffalo and a Fox today and the road was again in great shape. The sun came out and it turned out to be a beautiful day to drive. We drove through the “fire area” where there has been a fire burning on the North/East side of the road for the past couple of weeks. We drove for close to 20 miles of road where there was charred forests and even was small fires still burning. We heard it is very common throughout the area to have forest fires during the summer that "clean out" the forest under growth. We entered the Yukon Territory today. I did not realize that it has not gained Provincial status with the Canadian Government, just a teritory.

Watson Lake was a big disappointment as there was little in the town and the Campground was a dirt parking lot that was very dusty. We were glad this was going to be a quick in/out stop. The Sign Forest was not a disappointment as there were signs from all over the world. We found lots from Colorado, a couple from Longmont, Boulder County as well as from other parts of Colorado. Vicki took LOTS OF PICTURES!! There were some very creative signs that you have to see to believe. We added our sign, took pictures of it and where it is placed so if we come back we can locate it!

We saw the Northern Lights Show and visited the "Department Store" in town. Returned to our camp spot in the parking lot and turned in early.
