We are now wending our way to the southwestern corner of Colorado, picking up as many hot springs along the way as well as enjoying the fantastic mountain scenery that seems to be everywhere you look in Colorado. We stayed at a nice campsite in Nathrop, Colorado, located on the Chalk Creek. The sites were great with the sound of rushing water as the river is swollen with runoff from snow melting in the mountains above.

This stop was for the purpose of soaking in the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs at the base of Mt. Princeton along the Chalk River. This particular spring boasts soaking in natural eddies of hot water from springs coming up within the chilly Chalk Creek. Unfortunately, the creek was really a rushing river and was closed to bathing, plus the hot water was being swept away. There where bathing pools made of cement on the hill fed by hot water from the springs, so all was not lost and we did get a warm soak… although it wasn’t the same.
