Yes, I have discovered... the pool.

And a very good thing too.

It isn't large, and it isn't heated, like Leichhardt Pool, but then again, it is not winter for me, as it is there for most of you.

One thing that I really do miss on this journey is my time doing aquarobics, moving my body in water. And my last swim in the beautiful hotel pool at Seoul Korea, was almost 3 weeks ago? So yes, the opportunity to move around today in my usual aquarobics ways was fantastic.

My my, such stiffness in certain muscles. The asymmetrical load-bearing has really taken its toll. Sandra mentioned in our earliest class today something that made sense to me. Everytime we experience something uncomfortable, totally unknown, stressful, an unkind word, and soforth, we shrink inwards towards our centre, our spines shorten, our body/mind/whole being tightens and reduces. When we do our yoga practice, we slowly gently start to open again, to release, to reach back outwards from the centre.

I am just back from the evening two hour practice outdoors. With the weather so kind we are able to do it on a lovely patio kind of affair - overlooking a valley of olive trees, wide open space, the constant chatter of birds. It is ... perfetto! Such slow, gradual working with our bodies, connecting always to the earth, to gravity, to the breath, it has already made quite a difference to how I feel. At one point, I felt as if with my inhalation I was drinking in the whole universe, and with my exahalation I was releasing outwards into the whole universe. For me, it was a 'cosmic' kind of moment.

And then, practice over, mats and blankets rolled up, I popped in to the kitchen to check what time is our dinner. As I said to la gentile signora Ada, 'non vorrei essere in ritardo!' - I would not like to be late. 8pm - 'alle otto'. I took the opportunity to pull out from my pocket the lyrics to another song ... and yes, for joy for joy - together we sang our way through ....'Volare'!! She has put in a request for another on tomorrow. I think I can agree to that.
