Our gifted children celebrate the 2,000 mile mark just a few blocks...

Uncle Norm, Aunt Jane, Julie and the girls (you can see who...

Elaine left for work before we were rousted but the rest of the Legans saw us off. By the time we gassed up and pointed west it was 9 o'clockish. We scored a handful more states in the license plate game and now only miss some of those small, pesky New England states.

We were delayed by and saw the carnage of a terrible wreck which consisted of the mangled remains of a car and an upside down semi-trailer and cab. These types of sightings always cause me to reflect on how blessed and fortunate we have been with safe travels. We stopped for In-and-Out Burger dinner in Barstow and made it to Uncle Norm and Aunt Jane's in Fullerton. This was another day of averaging 70+ miles per hour. The girls enjoy playing with Annie the dog and we all enjoyed a nice visit.

Some general statements and observations: Traffic in Orange County was some of the easiest to navigate I have ever experienced. We are all tired. It was hard to drive by the Grand Canyon without stopping. We hit the 2,000 mile mark in Fullerton. The purple trees (aka Jackaranda - no idea if that is spelled right) are in bloom and are quite pretty.
