Balancing Rock...a real balancing Act!

Delicate Arch...after a not-so delicate walk!

The South Window

An Amazing Lattice Work of Arches

Hello From Moab Utah!!

It's 5:00 in the afternoon, 88 degrees w/20% humidity. We are sitting in lawn chairs enjoying the breeze and looking out at some of the most colorful rockscape we've ever seen. Len is preparing to grill the marinaded pork tenderloin I prepared last night (thanks to Alton Brown and the Food Network!)

Today we visited Arches National Park and we were blown away by the defiance of gravity at every turn! Huge rocks supporting small rocks, Giant rocks balanced upon bases you'd swear could never support them, and arches made of sandstone that have stood for thousands of years...and a few that have collapsed under the weight of time.

The pictures say more than we could ever express. Needless to say we hiked to get a closer view...at times feeling like we were going straight up! Breathless by the time we reached the top, we were never-the-less grateful that we had made the trip.

Tomorrow we head for Dead Horse Lookout...but that's another story.

Stay Tuned,

Len and Mary
