Leaving Paris on the TGV - Arrival in Geneva Jun 8, 2009

Up early for breakfast, packing and a walk in the park with M-D. M-D offers to drive us to Gare Lyon for our 1:10 PM departure on the TGV to Geneva. Thank goodness she is with us as a simple thing of getting our tickets has turned into a mess as the automated ticket machine will not recognize my credit card that had purchased the tickets on-line two days prior. Marie-Daniele is the greatest "Mom in Paris"! She personally escorts us to the train car and makes sure we are OK before she leaves the gare and we are off to Geneva. Arrival in Geneva Monday afternoon We arrive in Geneva at 4:35 PM. The train is right on schedule, much more efficient than airports. Bertrand is there to meet us at the station to accompany us on the short train ride to the French side of the airport where we fetch our French rental car. Then off to Geneva to find a Swiss sim card for Marbies phone and a stop at Mont Blanc Square for a pastis. After dropping Bertrand off in Geneva, we made our way to our lovely Bed and Breakfast in the small village of St. Maurice, just outside of Vesenaz, Switzerland which is about 10 minutes outside of Geneva. It's so pleasant to be in the country, yet so close to the city. After checking in with our hostess, Anna at the bed and breakfast, we had a lovely dinner at Les Marronniers Restaurant where we dined on fresh Perch from the lake, which is a summer dish here in the Lake Geneva area. It is served with frites and tartar sauce and a green salad. We also enjoyed a very nice bottle of Swiss Pinot Noir. I'm sure you can imagine we were extremely tired from traveling and getting settled into our new environment so we were looking forward to a good nights sleep. For some reason, we never seem to get to bed before midnight and this night is no different. . . . so off to a good nights sleep!!
