It has been quite some time since I last posted anything on here, but here I am 7 months later, unable to sleep on a plane leaving Hawaii – for real this time. With a new chapter of my life beginning, I figured I might as well start a sequel to “Around the World” – this time “Across America”.
I’m sure some of you are wondering what happened so….
First a quick update:
Where I last left off I had arrived back in Hawaii to a marriage proposal. It didn’t take much time before the relationship began to head south. (I’ll spare the details here – it’s not worth getting into!) By mid April everything had completely fallen apart. I moved to the east side of the island to Kaneohe, and was lucky enough to move into a beautiful house right on the ocean. There were kayaks to use and it was only a short paddle to both Chinaman’s Hat and the Sandbar. My roommates were nice girls that took me in on such short notice and were very understanding to my situation.
I had been working since February as a kindergarten teacher at a school right in Kaneohe, so it was a quick commute to work everyday once I moved. It was a difficult time for me but I had a lot of support from family and friends back home, as well as a couple people on island that helped me move on in my life (thank you James and Gordean!) I became good friends with the other kindergarten teacher and she helped to make my life a whole lot easier when everything first went bad. I was lucky to have someone to turn to and I am grateful for all that she did for someone she hardly knew! I finished out the school year just this past Friday, and as tough as kindergarten was at times, it was a great experience that I learned a lot from.
So right now I am on a plane… but where am I going you ask? Vegas of course!!! Kathleen will be picking me up in a few short hours and we will be back to our usual antics in no time I’m sure! (We last left her in Australia, visiting the guy she met at Oktoberfest. Since then she has moved back to Vegas, got rehired in the same school district and is also once again single!) She has some amazing things planned for the next couple days (comp room at Mandaley Bay, massages and facials at the Bellagio, as well as free food and drinks at the Bellagio, and passes for the vip pool at a new casino that just opened.) I think its going to be a fun few days!!
After Vegas I am headed home for the weekend to meet up with all of my friends for Mary’s bachelorette party (wine tasting in the Finger Lakes). A couple days after that, Mom, Dad and I are flying out to California to pick up my car and drive back to NY over the next month or so. (I bought a new Jeep Patriot back in Feb. and shipped it to CA a couple weeks ago.) Tom Quinn has lots of stops planned along the way and we will also be meeting up with family and friends I haven’t seen in forever! After that, who knows?! I haven’t quite gotten that far yet…I guess I will have to wait and see. (Don’t worry Mom and Dad! I’m updating my resume as soon as I finish writing this blog – promise!)
So stay tuned… there are more adventures to come!!!
