A Very Nice Day!
Jun 5, 2009
|Marilyn & I slept in and didn’t get out of bed until 8:00 AM.
Those darned raccoons were at it again last night and I can’t resist watching them once they have me awake during the night.
They are fun to watch as they cavort in and around the dumpster.
After our morning coffee, I had a few chores to finish up. I dumped the holding tanks, then made a trip to Wal-Mart. Carl wanted a few things from Wally World, so I had him follow me and I showed him the way. I stopped on the way back to the Campground to wash the Van.
When I arrived back in the Campground, I saw Jennifer and Colby. I carried the groceries inside and then announced to Colby that I was going in to shave. To our surprise, he wanted to stay outdoors, rather than go in for his “shave”. Normally he watches me shave, and then wants me to shave him, which I do with the shaver head cover in place.
He also has to have the after shave cream on his cheeks, just like Papa, so that is some more fun.
Jennifer and Colby had to leave to be home before noon, so I got busy putting some wax on the Van. It sure needed it. That poor Van has been such a great car for us. It is a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan, and is in great condition. It has 102,000 miles on it and still runs great. The problem is that it sits outdoors 12 months a year, and we drive it only when we are here in Hannibal.
I had to borrow some wax from Carl and then only managed to get the roof and the hood waxed, before Marilyn & I had to leave for our Chiropractor appointment in Palmyra.
We headed back to the Campground after that, and picked up Carl & Linda to ride over to Ray Behrens COE Campground with us.
When we arrived, there was a long line of people waiting to get in to the Campground. People were lined up with campers and boats. Everyone had to check in and there was no second line option. We tired quickly of the long wait and turned around. No more waiting.
We drove through Monroe City and showed Carl & Linda some of the sights, including the home we built on the golf course.
We left Monroe City in time to arrive in downtown Hannibal right at 5:00 PM.
Ole Planters Restaurant was having the Friday night special of Prime Rib again, and the four of us ordered that. We topped off this delicious meal with a piece of Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie for each couple, divided between the two people. What a fine meal we had!
We dropped Carl & Linda at their RV. They invited us in for a glass of wine but my droopy eyelids were more convincing that we should go on home.
This has been a wonderful day and now we are inside, relaxing and anticipating a good night of sleep.
We simply must wait until tomorrow to see what that day has in store…..
