It has officially been 3 weeks since I left Miami. So far I’ve been pretty lucky (except for the issues I’ve been having with the phone and video camera). I’ve been fairly healthy for being in a completely different environment (knock on wood). But seriously, there are some people here that have thrown up or had “other” issues for weeks at a time.
Once I got to the hospital I asked my co-worker where my old phone was (as if he actually attempted to sell it back for me), and he said it was at his house. I was like “well I need it because I lost my other one…” I don’t know why, but this made him extremely happy because he was a lot nicer to me today than usual. Anyway, I have a phone again (with a new number).
Today I got to take everyone’s blood pressure and wrote stuff down on their charts (made me feel useful for once). I actually even got called “doctor” by some guy in a wheelchair!
After work I had a cookie craving (when don’t I), and I went searching for cookies. Bought myself some yummy shortbread cookies, which are not as good as the ginger ones, but still good. I then later went with Liz to the wood market because she’s leaving back home today! This makes me sad because she was really cool…
When I got back from the wood market, the power was out and my room was literally a sauna (I’m not kidding). I tried sitting around but it was too hot to even just sit and do nothing. I convinced my roommate to walk with me to a bar, so we sat down and drank a beer in the shade. It was amazing. I think I’m going to do this every day to avoid sitting in my boiling room.
