Bourges to Les Pineaux (395km) (4:03h)

The Ibis hotel that we stayed at in Bourges gets our top marks in friendliness and service-especially as they offer budget pricing. Our drive to Peters’ place was done in a leisurely manner today as we knew that Peter had left Edinburg yesterday in his camping-car and that he was not expecting to arrive to his place until mid afternoon.

Our travels today took us past low hills used as farming country with low fields of wheat and nice straight lines of ‘pomme de terre’ (potatoes) with a few grape vines in between creating a vista of green mosaic.

A rowdy arrival (me) rousted the Lord of the Manor (Peter) as he had just beaten us home by half an hour. After some light refreshments we followed Peter for a tour of the extensive grounds and out buildings, we can see why he has chosen this place to spend the next period of his life---in between coming back periodically to be our pesky neighbor in Adelaide of course. Here he has all sorts of projects that will keep him as busy as he chooses to be. There are his grape vines, his out buildings, one of which is already set up as a ‘Gite’ (self contained apartment) with the opportunity to finish of another 3 apartments as the main work has already been done. There are vast gardens that can be played around with and Herman is looking forward to Peter dragging his tractors out so that the two of them can go out and play games
