| Lordy what a blast!! Got to spend time with grandchildren together and alone. Stayed in the finest campground I have ever seen. Really nice place on Grapevine lake. Partied too hard at the Back Porch with son and his wife waayy to many times. Gotta cut back a bit.. If we were recording a rock album on this tour, it would thus far be named "Shitfaced 2009". Gotta slow down. The VFW in Grapevine makes the one in Astor look classy. Gawd it was awful! However, I had the best streak on a pool table ever. Played three guys thought to be the best there and ate their lunch. Texas hospitality and a keen eye knowing "when to fold 'em" kept things reasonable pleasant. Played golf with some of Clay's friends at the municipal course; a drop dead beautiful course manicured to the max. My string of excellence at pool was not extended to my golf game. Finished the visit by taking family for sushi.. sort of a developing tradition. Elaine had been a real champ.. great with the boys and didn't barf during sushi.. And. Catch this.. While at a cookout by a pool at Clay's friend's house, the Princess not only didn't barf with she found out half way through her burger that it was buffalo, but she actually finished it.. She did, however, indulge in a glance at me that could have melted a polar cap.. What a Sweetie.. On to San Antonio.. |
