Today we drove the backroads of Nebraska and South Dakota from Grand Island Nebraska to Presho South Dakota. We left Grand Island on US 281 (yes, the same 281 that leads out of San Antonio). It's a 2 lane highway with very little traffic. Our route took us through rolling hills and farmland. One small community showed a population of 5 on its sign. I wonder who is mayor today? LOL. It was a peaceful day and with very little traffic very enjoyable to drive.
Presho South Dakota is a small community located about 40 miles south of Pierre on Interstate 90. We had checked earlier in the day with the campground to make sure there was room. When we arrived, we discovered that with the exception of an old bus, we are the only ones in the park. Talk about choice of sites. We are using this stop as a focal point for visits to Pierre and Bismarck North Dakota.
