|We left the Sea of Galilee and if I was a little sad to leave Nazareth and the Mediterranean Sea, I was crushed to leave Galilee. The bus ride down the west side of Galilee was a moment to let the view of the Sea etch itself on my memory forever.Thirteen of us wanted to be baptized in the Jordan River, so we traveled to Yardenit for the baptism ceremony. A community of believers from all over the world, but primarily from the southern United States, have contributed money that made possible the construction of Yardenit. Many Westerners making pilgrimages to the Holy Land wanted to be baptized in the Jordan, but the area close to where Jesus was baptized is on the border of the country of Jordan and that wouldn’t be good to have a bunch of tourists running around acting strangely. Yardenit is very close to the Sea of Galilee where it is completely in Israel. It was a beautiful place to rededicate our lives.
