Week 1 Dewey, AZ

|Week 1 Orchard Ranch RV Park, Dewey, Arizona May 21 to May 28, 2009
The first week at Orchard Ranch has been very nice and cool. Average day temperatures have been 81 and the night lows have been 54 degrees. Down the road in Phoenix it has been over 100 during the day and in the 70’s at night.
The pool opened on the 22nd and the water is 82 degrees. The spa is 103 degrees. So far I have used them every day. I will have a beach bum tan before we leave here June 21st.
On Memorial Day the park management hosted a BBQ of hamburgers, hot dogs and lemonade and the park guests brought side dishes. The park also provided a one man band on a guitar with a karaoke machine. I didn’t know that “Travelin Man” had so many verses. Our table was right next to the speakers so we could hear the music WAAAY too good.
Our friends that we met here last year pulled in on Saturday the 22nd. John and Arleen live at Lake Havasu, AZ and are spending the summer at Orchard Ranch. Their space is next to ours so it is going to be nice to visit with them for a month before we head on to Utah. They have two small dogs about the same size as PeeWee so they get along really well and we all walk the animals several times a day.
Right now we have wifi available at the recreation center. The rec center is open daily until 9PM. They serve a hot meal on Wednesday and Friday for $4 and Saturday breakfast for $3.
Friends from Surprise, Charlie and Russ visited on the weekend and we bar-b-qued chicken and had a really nice visit.
We found the new Sam’s Club near the town of Prescott and went in and bought some delicious crackers and a tub of spreading cheese. Sam’s has a Berry/Berry Sundae for $1.50. YUMMY. It is worth the trip to Sam’s just for the sundae. (ps: you don’t need a member card to use the pharmacy or the food stand)
We have reconnected with our former Sun City West neighbors, Rick and Marti, and we are meeting them later in June for a Friday fish fry at a place we visited with them last year in Chino Valley called the Windmill.
Time to head for the pool.
