Attack #18-Climbing Cambria
28 May - I was up early to break camp and drove the 44 miles to our last attack on the coast. After shuffling the AV around in a small coastal parking area for the most appropriate spot, I hitched a ride in Dan’s FART vehicle to the battle assembly area about a mile away at the Shamel County Park. Our attack took us around and through the hills of the Moonstone Beach Parklands, East West Ranch, and residential areas of Cambria. All along the route, we enjoyed some of the best bay views the coast has to offer.

After the attack, I relocated a few miles north of town in a scenic overview parking area and enjoyed the splendid vistas, smells, and cool sea breezes of the Pacific Ocean until after dusk. It made for an excellent R&R spot and was a fitting way to spend my last day on the coast before heading inland to Paso Robles. I arrived at the Walmart encampment area there around 2100 and parked adjacent to fellow foot solders, Ron and Bette, and HOMIES, Dan, Joanna, and Larry.

Mission Status for day 13 of 16: Completed 18th of 21 scheduled attacks for a total of 157.5 miles on the ground and 858 convoy miles.
