2009 Athens to Amsterdam travel blog

Today we continued north and drove to Montlucon, a town with a population of around 40,000. We had found out yesterday that tomorrow (thursday)is a holiday here because of ascension day. Many people also take Friday off work to make a long weekend and accomodation can be hard to find. The B&B we had just stayed at was booked out for the weekend.

When we arrived in Montlucon, the first thing we noticed was shops were open even though it was lunch time. Many places close down from around 12:30-2:30 for lunch in the other places we have been, which can be a bit inconvenient if you are looking for something for lunch. After parking the car, we found the information center which was also open. They gave us some local info and a list of accomodation of places. We found a hotel close to the center of town which suited us just fine.
