|Today we drove around the district having a look at the small villages and surroundings.
Langogne township itself dates from 998ad. In 1878 the young Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson walked through the area with a donkey called Modestine. The local tourist industry makes a point of selling this event and you can hire a donkey and do the same walk. Actually the area is very popular for hiking, and being at about 1000m above sea level in the winter skiing and other winter sports are popular.
Just outside Langogne is Lake naussac. This was formed by daming the local river which cause the township of Naussac to be submerged. They rebuilt the town next to the lake and the new buildings seem sstrangely out of place in this area.
