Anna gets some help from Alison

We had a late and leisurely start today, as it is our last full day of the tour. As we drove through the Rift Valley, a steady rain settled in and everyone on our truck soon looked as though we were back home in Canada, rather than in Africa. At 8000 ft, and with the rain and the sides on the truck down still down, some climbed into their sleeping bags and cinched their mummy bag hoods tightly, while others pulled on their pants, polar fleeces, and rain gear. We had to laugh.

By mid day, we rolled through Nairobi to our campsite on the other end of town. It is quite a bizarre place for an overland truck campsite as it is buried in a posh neighbourhood where there were a number of private schools and very nice houses.

Soon after we arrived at our last campsite, and not too long after we pitched our tents, it started to rain again. We climbed into the truck and helped Jeff finish his stash of beers.

For dinner, we headed out to a restaurant called The Carnivore --Lammie's kind of restaurant! There was a huge BBQ pit behind the hostess desk where large skewers of pork, chicken, aligator, camel, ostrich, ostrich meatballs, beef and lamb were cooking. As long as the flag on your table was still up, the waiters would stop by your table and offer to carve you a slice of whatever was on their skewer. It was great!!! Niiigel's favorite was the pork. Lammie's favorite was the ostrich -very tender and juicy. The camel was a bit tough (must have been the hump), but otherwise not too bad. There was a selection of fresh strawberries with ice cream, brandy snaps, cheesecake, and various sorbets.

Needless to say, we all rolled out of the restaurant.

We arrived back at camp to find that some of the tents had leaked quite badly. Fortunately for us, ours was fine, and we were soon lulled to sleep by the sound of the rain hitting the fly sheet. zzzzzZZZZZZZZ
