Kane Family's Thai/European Escapade 2009 travel blog

Cruised at home this morning, more reading! Before we headed off for our day to the local vineyards.

First stop was Chateau du Thuerry, a lovely winery perched on a slight hill, the lady that did tastings for us was lovely and spoke great English. we tasted many of the local whites which where mailny semillon and rolle varieties and rose wines which they are into a lot of here in France. we also hoped to taste their bottle for blancs de blancs, but were not able to, and the lady was so nice and interested we were involved in the wine industry in New Zealand that she gave us a bottle, which was very generous.

We rolled out of there and on to gorgeous palatial Chateau de Berne winery, very civilised, gorgeous gardens and chateau buildings. we tasted even more varieties here and also had a very informative lady helping us, kids got a crepe and found a playground so were reasonably happy. We ended up buying a huge magnum of rose from here to give ian and Catriona a gift for having us at the villa...woops hope they are not reading this yet.

Back to the villa, kids were dyeing to make home made pizzas in the pizza stone oven outside so got all the ingredients and let them go for it...will tell you how it was later, aurevoir
