This morning we took care of our weekly housekeeping duties - laundry and groceries.
After lunch we took our last side trip in NM, driving east of Santa Fe to the Pecos National Monument Historic Park located near the town of Pecos, NM. This site has a visitor center with museum, along with ruins of the pueblo village and reconstructed Spanish mission church. This village and mission church, located at a midpoint in a passage through the southern end of the Sangre de Cristo Moutains, sits on a high ridge and once held a population of 2,000. Long before the Spaniards entered this country this village commanded the trade path between Rio Grande and the plains.
After driving home we had supper at Bobcat Bites, a local very tiny restaurant, right down the road from our RV park. This place has been featured on TV and is well known for its freshly, grounded meat.
Tomorrow we start our journal home. The next stop is Bent's Fort in Colorado.
