After a couple more days in St. Louis on Monday we headed east to Casey, Illinois, about 30 miles west of Terre Haute, Indiana. We are definitely on our way back to New York. During our last few days in St. Louis the Mississippi River overflowed onto the roadway behind the arch where we had taken the carriage ride earlier in the week. Parts of the road where completely covered with water. We had planned to take a riverboat cruise but because of the fast flowing high water the cruises were cancelled. That left us only the casinos for our entertainment. On Saturday we went to the President Casino that is located in a large boat right on the Mississippi. It was sort of run down and depressing so we didn’t stay long and by Sunday access to the President was also flooded. On Sunday we went to Lumier Place, a large fairly new casino a couple of blocks up from the river. That was much more impressive and we again won enough to pay for our lunch so we had a good day. We are staying at Casey KOA for the next 3 days. It is a very nice campground right off the interstate. As it is still early in the season there aren’t very many campers here. The owners live right here at the campground and they have done a great job making the campground real home like and comfortable.
