This was a different day for us. We took a side trip tour to the “Trinity Site”. This is where the very first atomic bomb test explosion took place. No, it is not “radioactive” and said to be less hazardous than a full mouth dental x-ray. Since it is located on an active military missile testing range, it is only opened to the public twice a year or to tour groups if no testing is scheduled. Fortunately, no testing was scheduled.

As we enjoy visiting historical sites, we enjoyed this bit, especially considering the impact of what happened here. Then to think that they “put together” the plutonium portion (the atomic part) of the bomb in the bedroom of a ranch house! Leaving the area we could see in the distance what appeared to be a forest fire.

This was the last day and last evening of entertainment for the rally. Headline group was the Papa Duo Run Run rock-n-roll band of the 60’s. Band has been on the scene for 43 years but not that much of a “top-ten” group. Their claim to fame is mostly imitating other groups, i.e. Beach Boys, Jan and Dean.
