24/04/09 - 27/04/09

We took the bus to Lijiang (Lee-john) from Dali. Not a bad trip - about 6 hours.

Our time here was pretty leisurely and definitely more about the sights, sounds and the food.

We did a little bit of shopping, planned our Tiger Leaping trip and alot of walking. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

There is an interesting local cuisine - Naxi cooking - basic and spicy but in more of a peppery/cumin way. We found a little local place where our favorite dish was Spicy Beef served in a little wok over a small stove - sooo good.

Met some good people staying at our guest house - Maddy and Steve from Australia, Jack and Jay from the UK and Jenny and Sam from Ireland. We shared travel info, life experiences and a beer or two. They are all still traveling for at least another couple of months. We wish them safe travels.

27/04/09 - 30/04/09......see next entry - Tiger Leaping

Gorge

Off to the Tiger Leaping Gorge hike on the 27th (3 nights) and then returned to Lijiang on the 30th for a quick one day turn around - then up to Zhongdian (aka Shangri-la).
