We are staying in a private villa on the edge of Placencia village, rented out to us by people that we met at check-in at Newark airport! Otherwise we had no idea of where we were going to end up staying. As it turns out, we got a very cheap deal and a very nice studio apartment with roof terrace and plunge pool! There are also kayaks tied up by the canal, and a couple of bikes, result!

We all drove down here and it was about a three hour drive from my Uncles place, we stopped off for lunch and believe it or not, the Prime Minister was grabbing a take-out from the same place...how random is that?

My Aunt and cousins spent a few hours with us whilst my uncle went in search of a mechanic to fix the now knackered clutch on the truck, (not an easy task on a bank holiday)! He eventually turned up with a guy who he had to stick with whilst he fixed a boat!

Feeling brave I did venture out in one of the kayaks yesterday, not very stable at all, so I did one big circle and ended up getting out again! Glad I did, as one of the girls downstairs was saying that she saw a huge stingray in the same water, I don't fancy ending up like Steve Irwin...R.I.P.

It's been hotter here than in the mountains, so we haven't done much during the day, catching some sun, but spending most of the time in the shade chilling out. The beach is nice and the water is warm and the sea breeze is refreshing.

There are quite a few nice restaurants in the village, we have been having breakfast most mornings over the road in a Belgian cafe, which has wifi access, so that's where we are catching up most mornings, we won't have too much during the day, maybe a few nachos (thanks to Auntie) then out for a evening meal later on. We had a nice meal at the Secret Garden, Andrea had barracuda steak and I went for Italian Sausage and Pasta with several cocktails to wash it down with. That was when we only had one bike at the house, so it was funny with Andrea on the crossbars of my lovely pink bike...I got a few funny looks that evening!

It'll be a week of chilling out down here in Placencia doing more of the same, (as little as possible), then back to the mountains on Monday where we will do some more days out with my relatives.

Andrea fancies a bungee jump, so if you know anywhere Yvette???!!!
