We saw areas of nice flowers while driving but couldn't stop to...

(Ron Writing) We left San Angelo heading east on US-87. Along this route the scenery changes from the rather barren east Texas desert to the wooded rolling hills of the “Hill Country”. We think the hill country is the nicest part of Texas and I guess quite a few folks feel that way. The area has become quite heavily populated with all sorts of housing developments and homes on acreages.

Last Spring we went to the hill country hoping to see the bluebonnets and other wild flowers for which they are famous. There weren’t many flowers because it had been such a dry year. This year seemed even worse. There were a few areas that had some nice flowers but nothing of the sort they would have in a good year.

Last year we stopped at Llano, TX to enjoy a BBQ dinner at Cooper’s. This year we did the same thing. When you see the photos you might remember us being there. We enjoyed pork ribs, prime rib, and jalapeno sausage.

From Llano we continued east on TX-29 and a short distance south on TX-95 to Taylor where we are spending the night in the Wal*Mart parking lot.
