Up at 6:30 AM for our adventure! Really dark outside. took a taxi (50 pesos) to the Marina Terminal & go there at 7:30 like we were told to do. However, the office for us to buy our 15 peso pass to the Marina doesn't open until 8am, the time of our tour. A couple of men brought over a large sea lion so people could get their picture taken with it. It was so cute! It would put it's head on your shoulder for the picture. Lots of people did it. We were told the sea lion was picked up in Argentina because it was blind in one eye & couldn't see well from the other. This way, it lived, otherwise it wouldn't have made it in the wild.
We were taken to a dock to catch the catamaran for our tour. There were only 13 of us on this tour. They gave us life vests, but we didn't have to put them on. As we set out, the crew gave each of us a plate with lovely fruit Cantaloupe, watermelon, 1/2 apple and pineapple. Then, they brought some wonderful pound cake! Then some juice to drink. We could drink all morning, even alcoholic drinks, if we wanted including beer. We did see quite a few of the humpback whale in the water. We saw a mother w/her baby. They can be up to 60 feet long & 45 tons. They can stay under water for up to 45 minutes, but then must come up for air. When a baby is born (at 1 ton) they can't breathe in the water, so the mother uses her flipper to gently push the baby to the surface for it to breathe air for its first breath. Whales can't suck so the mother releases her milk into the water for the baby to eat it. Gestation for whales is 11 months. They mate & give birth in the Banderas Bay each year. They come here in March-April each year from the Hudson Bay in Canada. This year, they think there are 300-400 of them here. We also saw lots of dolphins. They would swim by our boat & it was like they were playing with us! They would come top water & they were so beautiful! Bev & I both got pina coladas & then they brought our sandwich for lunch. I bought the DVD (300 pesos) that the cameraman made today. I should get it tomorrow morning at the hotel. It was supposed to be 400 pesos, but I told him I thought he said 200 pesos, so he gave me a "deal". Bev & I also bought the photo of the 2 of us when we boarded the boat, it's cute. It was 160 pesos, but they had wanted 200 for the 2.
We had just enough money for our taxi ride home, 50 pesos, but decided to take the bus instead, it is cheaper! We changed into swimming suits & went to the pool. Clouded up at 4PM. As we were sunbathing, a lady came up to us and said "I just have to ask. Are you 2 sisters?" She said we even READ alike! We had been asked a couple of times if we are sisters actually.
TV here is American Network & has shows from all 3 networks plus CNN. We had TNT & TMC, but sometimes they were in Spanish.
Showered & went for our Margaritas! Took a bus to town & had dinner at Pipi's again. Shared Strawberry Margarita & it was so good! Ate chicken enchiladas, tacos, rice & beans, again. As we walked out we saw it had rained while we ate. Took the bus home.
