My flight didn't leave Singapore until 2 in the morning so needless to say I had some spare time. Super duper airport, free wifi, they take any currency in the world and loads of shopping and places to eat good food at reasonable prices...go figure!
Finally it was time to board and the flight was great, fast and unmemorable, just how I like them. Only bad part was getting into Doha at 5 in the morning...yikes! Got through customs, paid for my visa and went to see how I would get to the hotel.
You go out to a room, that's it! Nothing but hotel kiosks and lots of men. I was the only woman, let alone blond within one hundred miles. Not fancying taking a taxi alone, I was going to stay until the hotel van came but a French guy came out and was staying at the same hotel as me so he offered to take me with him. HURRAH!
IC is a good hotel, but they didn't have my room ready...ugh! I ended up putting my suit on and sleeping on an oh so compfy lounger by the sea...heaven! They came and fetched me once my room was ready and I spent the rest of the day lounging. Even tho doha is only 2 hours earlier than Europe is is 6 hours later than Singapore. I was hurting...bad. I had to make calls and get ready for meetings as it was really bunched in tight since it is so bloody expensive there but I had to eat the first day...I could not keep my eyes open.
From then on out I was on the move and although I was a bit nervous doing biz there, I was so happy with the reception I received and the success derived from my visit...yes indeed, now the ME was going to be productive as well.
As a precaution I wore a scarf but found all the woman were wearing their hair out and soon found myself feeling one of the gang. I met so many people, my head is still spinning. So gracious and lovely they were.
The men...wow...all of them drop dead gorgeous...but still can't see myself with a Muslim man...i would make him crazy...or he me...too bad, they are HOT!
Even though I had my reservations about going there, I am so happy I didn't chicken out. It may just turn out to be even better than SE Asia...what a world we live in. I am so glad I took the time to check it out...have already planned to go back and next time Dubai and Abu dabi...even though will do biz even before I get there...
No weirdo stories but went to a market with a brit gal one day and we were stared at by the many who wear bee keepers (American slang) and letter slots (brit slang) for ME woman outfits...am so wondering how they wear all of that in the heat, not to even mention the Chanel suite they are wearing underneath!
Only wish I had met a woman who was throwing out her Chanel suits...I would take any of those second hand any day of the week...maybe next time...I can always hope.
Can't wait to go back...now Germany...it'll feel great to be back on European shores!
