Chandler Park RV - Site 3

View of back-in sites and Lake Chandler

Doris with my Aunt Eulene and Cousin Jeanne in the kitchen

We took the back roads from Checotah to Purcell and enjoyed a nice leisurely drive through the country. The RV park at Chandler Lake is very nice with a row of long pull-throughs and another row of long back-ins. All sites are full hook-up and cost $18/night payable at the Pro Shop across the street.

The last two days we were here the winds were extremely high, even for Oklahoma. Some of the wind gusts got into the 70s. It was like being on the edge of a hurricane without the bands of rain. The state is very dry and several fires caught and couldn't be controlled in the high winds. The fires are still burning right now, though the winds have finally died down. According to news 138 homes have been destroyed so far - very sad.

We had a wonderful visit with my Aunt Eulene, Cousin Jeanne

and her family. Four days went by much too fast and we ate way too much. One thing about my family - they know how to cook and are not reluctant to do so! We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon.

We are off tomorrow for Phoenix and a visit to my brother, Lonnie and his wife , Mickey. We plan on taking five days to get there with our first stop tomorrow at Texola, OK right on the Texas/Oklahoma border. Hopefully the weather will improve. :-)
