Well after 6 weeks of fun in the sun in George Town we are making our way north.
We left at 8am,went through conch cut and came in Galliot Cut out into the Ezuma Sound with light and variable winds we motor/sailed for the day.We arrived in Black Point Settlement just before sundown. We anchored beside "Bebe"which we had met in George Town.
Many of the boats here left George Town the same morning as us,or left the previous morning and so on,making appearances here and there.
The following morning we got up early and pulled up the anchor and ventured again,we are getting back into the swing of the "treadmill'experience only more enjoyable.
this time we arrived to our anchorage in time to get settled for the beautiful sunset in Shroud Cay.
So far we travel approximately 60 miles each 10 hr day.
The next morning we crossed the Northeast Providence Channel to get to Nassau.
We secured the boat in the Nassau Harbour, then put the dinghy in the water for a much needed walk, which both of us agreed on.
We took a short ride across the Harbour, then ventured to find a casino across the fixed bridge.
On the other side of the bridge was 'Paradise Island"
It has ritzy hotels and expensive stores, not to mention the mega yachts!
We found the entrance into the huge casino, and looked at the signs for the buffet.
What a smorgusborg!
Many selections of food,we tried a little of everything.
After we were so stuffed,we decided to treat ourselves to a one dollar/single spin slot machine,,,,hey were on a cruising budget.
we then make our way back.
We are always greeted with very polite manners from the Bahamians.
The next morning 'Chris Parker, the weather guru" called for 15-20 knot wind from the southeast.
When we left knowing the winds were not to much yet we travelled for the day to arrive in a secluded, noname spot close to Great Harbour which is in The Berrys.
I made us some boat beef bourginone, and we slept as the journey is tiring.
the following morning(our days are from 6am to whenever we get settled)
Before we lifted our anchor this time the captain put in a double reef in the main,we set sail for Lucaya,we arrived there after a hard sail including 9-12 ft seas,a 4 second interval and 30 knot winds!!!!Whee this boat can handle these conditions!
The only incident was the captains chair flying across the cockpit and hitting my head,,,Oh well just a mild concusion.
the life of a lady pirate! At least I never got sick.
John says 'what a thrilling, and a fantastic ride"
Finally,,, the bank of the shore is in sight,,,we were about the lowtide approaching,so we thought we might have to go to the other side to end our sail because the waves would crash us in,fortunately there was a reef so we could enter the channel.
We have been here in the Great Bahama Yacht Club for a day and 2 nights. We have done all our laundry as one hatch wasn't locked so we had our bedding to clean,,,,John washed the boat with sweet water making her sparkle!
Tommorow morning we are making our way to Florida,,crossing the Gulf Stream.
The weather will be 5-10 knot day with 2ft and less waves, perfect for motor/sailing.
It will be a swift exit to the USA.
We will keep you updated from the eastcoast of the USA.
no pics this time as we were preoccupied with our journey.
