Our Solomons arrival came at about noon on Saturday 28 March. The return from Key West via the Florida East Coast and Okeechobee had taken some 22 days. Recall that the trip down in early November had taken 15 days. We much prefer the more leisurely pace and the absence of a schedule certainly reduces the stress level.
It is good to be back among friends and family. Our arrival coincided with a potluck at the clubhouse and it wasn't long before we had unloaded the boat. Next, it was time to make the trip up the road to Arlington to visit with the four new grand children and their parents. This theme of grandchildren would become a constant as we found ourselves close to the Solomons for the entire Summer season, a nice pool at this end and a convenient hour and a half drive in between.
Wende and Lee with a couple of twins added in December as Carson approached his second year, were in need of a little assistance from grandma. And, these three boys became the center of Jean's universe until Bill and Melissa doubled up with Will in July of this year. This made five boys and one little princess, Amelia, among the two families in Arlington. She managed to spend her time equally among the two Arlington households.
Bill spent his time between volunteer work on the condo docks and set work at the local little theater. He even gained some proficiency in the lighting for their productions. Chapter III had all her teak and holly decking refurbished and he renewed the wood cap rail, all the time griping about the Chesapeake heat and humidity in July and August.
