special olympic surfing at its best (kates amazing photos)

alright not a ton has happend since i last posted one of these but some fun things have happend and want to write them down before i forget. first off this week was a fun one Lacey a good friend of mine from back home that i have known since 7th grade came to visit all of us over here which was alot of fun we got some touristish stuff out of the way while she was here. we went and toured the speights brewery in downtown Dunedin, which was alot of fun and really old styled and at the end of the tour you get to stay in the tap room for about 30 mins and try all the different types that the brew there. well this was at around 6:00pm so needless to say we all got our money's worth and we released into the downtown half drunk. that evening i think we went to pint night at the campus bar always a great time and got to see alot of people from australearn i don't get to see that often. the next day roger, Lacey and i all went to the cadbury egg factory which was pretty cool, we didn't get as much chocolate as i thought we would but it was pretty cool and we did get to see them dump 1 ton of liquid chocolate which made it all worth while. later that afternoon we went to tomahawk beach and just chilled out and had a really good time (i have a pretty cool synth from that) that Friday night we took it rather easy and just watched some movies (quantum of solace and rocknrolla)because we had to be up at around 8 the next day for a surf class at unipol. our surf class was alot of fun the first day we went to tomahawk beach and surfed most of the day. i picked it up rather easily since it is close to snowboarding and by the end of the day i was standing up rather often, but i did get womped alot by the waves, which was fun. we also found out that the one day surf lesson was actually a 2 day and that we had to back up at 8 tomorrow for the whole thing again. that evening happend to be my birthday celebration it took roger, kate and i awhile to recover from the day of surfing but we did get a 2nd wind and had a rather interesting night. we played a rather interesting game of Dubai truth or dare meets spin the bottle that our neighbor Josef made us play b4 we went out. once we left we stopped at several bars that night The Baaa, Captain Cook's tavern, Blue, and the Break. it was a amazing night and quite a few incriminating photos are circulating around now but a good way to turn 21. the next morning however wasn't as fun luckily jayde an amazing kiwi girl drove us to unipol and even bought us all meat pies in the morning, a life saver. we all felt terrible until we hit the cold water then we started to feel better, i think i laid on my board past the break of the waves for awhile before i ever tried to catch one, but I'm glad we went because we had another fun time and i improved even more and eventually rode waves all the way in and got the surfing thing down. i also took some pics of us all surfing and the pics that were taken of kate brought roger, kate and i hours of laughter to the point that i thought it best to make a collage of all the photos. that evening everyone got back from there trips and we kinda just chilled no one really wanted to drink on my birthday night, which isn't all that bad because i will need all my liver for next Saturday which it the celebration for Kristin, yosef, roger, Anna, and my birthdays. three of us will be turing 21 it is going to be insane and i my not recover from that night for awhile. that is why i am buckling down this week so i can get a paper written and study for a test i have Monday because Tuesday afternoon of next week roger, kate and i are all heading to Thailand(surprisingly it was cheaper than Aussie so that is why we are going now) we will be gone for about two weeks we leave a week b4 break starts because that is the only time we could get tickets for the cheap price so i have to write and turn in my paper a week early since i wont be here next week oh well I'm going to Thailand!!!!!!

also forgot to put this in. on campus yesterday there were two old gents who owned a company called bikes 4 fun and they had all these crazy and fun bikes i had some time b4 class so i rode them for like an hour and then once the class was over came out and rode them all again. here are descriptions of some of the bikes 1. a tricycle type that had two wheels that rotated 360 degrees on the back so when you turned really fast it would send you in circles 2. another tricycle with larger bike wheels on either side kinda like a wheelchair but lower to the ground and you steered by moving your legs from side to side as you pedaled the bike 3. a bike with wheels on top of wheels so you have to pedal backwards and order for the bottom wheels to go the right way (really a set of wheels on top of another set of wheels) 4. a scooter that had a teeter-totter on it that you went up and down on it to power it 5. an really old fashioned bike with the huge wheel and then the small one like early 1900's 6. a bike that had pivots on both the front and back so as you ride you can pull the handlebars to your side and the wheel that you are pedaling and the one and you are steering with the handlebars are parallel to each other

Here are some good links Lacey's pictures from NZ
