|The masacre by Mexico of 342 Texans promised safe passage upon surrendering took place after the Battle of the Alamo. They were taken to Fort Defiance and on Palm Sunday March 27, 1836 they were killed. This event led to the Texas Revolutionary battle cry "Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad!" Although many remember the Alamo today, fewer remember Goliad. The site of the massacre is located in Goliad State Park, just south of the town of Goliad.
Leigh had read about this so we checked it out. Nice courthouse and the square surrounding it had a good place for lunch. I had 3 beef tacos very unlike the ones at Taco Bell. Leigh had cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Mary had a cup of vegetable soup.
