Trip on two rivers...Mar 27, 2009

Here .. in no particular order .. are some pictures of our pontoon ride up the Rainbow & Withlacoochee Rivers. The Rainbow River is spring fed and clear as can be! The whole river is the color in the pics. The Withlacoochee starts in the "Green Swamp", a 48,000 acre wildlife management areain central Florida and flows north up to Lake Rousseau past us here in Crystal River... and then on to the Gulf! It's water (although very clear) is almost tea colored due to the tannin in the cypress needles that fall every year.
The ride we took starts at Arnold's Resort in Dunnellon and lasts almost 2 hours. Our guide is a professional singer and we stopped in the "cove" (where the turtles and the alligator were) to be entertained by several songs about Florida. In one picture you can see us listening to him sing about the Florida Panther.
Hope you enjoy the trip! We sure did! That's Randy & Mary with us. We stopped for lunch at Gruff's on the river after the ride. Ate outside at the picnic tables and watched the river traffic. Doesn't get much better than that!!! ^_^
