Sarah and Kadu's Great Adventure travel blog

So today we thought we'd organize our act a little and start getting ready for the next leg. The first thing we did was get ourselves to the local DHL with some very small gifts for people. I thought I could send things as we travel, as we brought very small suitcases. I thought I was being quite clever, really. Turns out they wanted $90. It was either $90- total or $90 each- but there is no way I am spending that kind of money to send like $40 worth of stuff. Honestly. The guy said that it wouldn't cost nearly as much to send things here from the US because way more things are coming this direction than the other way around. Well, duh. That info did not help me in the least, so we left- dejected but ready for a nice walk through town.

Next we stopped at a little pastry shop near the house that we hadn't tried yet. They had hands down the best empanadas I've had since we've been here. They call them different things in different countries, but essentially they are little pastries stuffed with meat or cheese or a combo. The most common sandwich, croissant, empanada, and all around anything here is the ham and cheese. I would not be surprised if they had a ham and cheese ice cream. Next time we go to the ice cream shop (you know, like tomorrow) I'll let you know. I digress. Anyway, they had cookies, puffed things, and things flavored with dulce de leche- as I mentioned earlier, dulce de leche is the street drug of choice here. We took our goodies home and munched away. Actually I did, Kadu was only lukewarm on the whole thing.

Kadu was been unusually crazy this morning, so after lunch we took a nap. I slept around 2 hours- he slept 3 1/2. Hard. Must of needed it.....except he slept so hard he peed his pants (and all over the bed). This would not be such a big ordeal if I knew for when we may have housekeeping again. We stripped rinsed, and hung to dry most everything, and now we will sleep ghetto style with a bottom sheet and only the comforter. Ah, well. Worse things have happened.

After that I started arranging the next leg of my trip. Morocco is not the place I want to fly by the seat of my pants with a 3 year old. More on that (and more photos)tomorrow....

XOXOXO
