We started the morning out with a visit to the Las Cruces Farmers Market. The Market is held on a section of Main Street that is closed to traffic and functions as an open mall. Our next stop was Home Depot for some RV supplies. We made it to Mesilla a Village with a long history dating back to the 1850’s. The town Plaza is encircled with shops and eaters. Kathy was able to spend a couple of hours exploring and I scrutinized the plaza. We Left Las Cruces and head to the Poncho Villa State Park were we visited the museum and explored the history of Villa’s Attack on Columbus NM in 1916 and General Pershing’s campaign into Mexico to bring him to justice. We did not catch him; he was last seen with Osama Bin Laden somewhere in the desert. We decided to head back north and put some distance between us and the border. We saw over twenty Border Patrol vehicles in a 20 mile stretch of highway as we headed to the Rock Hound State Campground where we will spend the night. We were treated to a very nice sunset.
