A view in Paracas National Park

Some sealions on the Ballestas Islands - aren't they cute!!

The next day we drove to Paracas National Park, on the coast. We had a look around a museum which told the history of the Paracas people and how the babies heads used to be deformed at birth by wrapping them tightly in linen. And then at older ages, when the people were probably brain damaged from the skull deformation, they used to drill holes in their skulls to "release the evil spirits" that they thought they had in there!! Nasty!

After some chilling on the beach, we drove to a different beach to set up camp and ended up getting properly stuck in the sand!! We had to get the sand grates out to put under the truck tyres. The boys all got stuck in and we played bat and ball, as there were only 2 spades!! We did feel a bit useless but got to join in and help by pushing the truck at one point! After about and hour and a half, the truck was FREE!!

We had a BBQ on the beach that night with chocolate stuffed bananas for dessert!! Mmmmmmmmmm!

The next morning, after the best nights sleep for ages, we awoke to the sound of the sea lapping at the beach! Lovely! After brekkie we headed off to see the Ballestas Islands. They were pretty, with hundreds of sea lions, birds and penguins on! So cute!
