Happy St Patrick's Day It is 5:45am and I am up - sleep deprived or what! Rod is snoozing away so I decided to get up and catch you up with what we have been up to. So here I am with coffee, toast and Good Morning Arizona on TV keeping me company. It is still dark here. To bring you up to date - Friday we enjoyed more of the Grand Canyon - it was a beautiful sunny day - 8 degrees C - only needed a light fleece jacket to stay warm. We started the day with a visit to the IMAX theatre in Tusayan - the Grand Canyon show was like taking a helicopter trip, as well as portraying Powell's trip on the Colorado River, through the canyon. We checked out the canyon again and then back on the road to to Mesa. The area around this part of the country is forest - pine and Juniper- It is almost like driving down a highway in northern Sask. Drove through Williams and Flagstaff(this is part of Route 66) on the way back. South of Flagstaff on I 17 - quite a few areas of 6 degree downhill grades with curves etc and speed limit at 65mph! Saturday Rod went to the pancake breakfast - and Ralph and Mag Zinger recognized him - they are friends of Sharon and Dave's - and we joined them for happy hour later that day. Sunday we visited with Rene and Dennis Anderson in Scottsdale - a beautiful supper on their patio and a great visit. Monday, I checked with the office to get info about quilt shops - they directed me to "Vivian" - it turns out she is a sister of Ruth Hahn of Outlook. She gave me a list of shops - I visited two shops and Rod checked out the surrounding businesses - of course I bought some material and a couple of patterns. Rod is starting to get itchy feet, so we have the maps out - may go to Tucson area tomorrow and then on to New Mexico. Just as a side note - watching the weather forecast - 56 degrees right now - getting up to high 80's by 4 pm - and it is dry - only 36% humidity. We keep watching the weather at home with the hopes that it will be warmer when we get back! Take care and we will talk again Thelma and Rod PS - Avery - how are your rehearsals coming along? We just might make it home in time for one of your performances yet!
