Mon - Mitchell, SD Jun 12, 2006

(Leaving: Wisconsin Dells, WI - Destination: Mitchell, SD - 458 miles) 10:30 AM We leave Wisconsin Dells and get back on I-90 and head west. 12:16 PM We stop for lunch at La Crosse, WI. We are looking for a Wendy's but Jan sees a Culver's so we stop there instead, Good Cheddar Burger and Frozen Custard! 01:05 PM We are back on the road and are about 5 miles from Minnesota. 01:13 PM We cross the Mississippi River into Minnesota. 01:58 PM We stop at the Minnesota Welcome Center for a break. 02:05 PM We are on the road again. 04:10 PM We make another rest stop somewhere in Minnesota. 04:21 PM We are going again. Jan discovers that we have a DVD player in the van and puts a movie in to watch. (Nice rental van, huh!) 05:19 PM We cross the state line into South Dakota. 05:30 PM We stop for gas in Brandon, SD. Our buttocks are getting tired! 05:41 PM We are moving again, 96 miles to go to Mitchell, SD 07:00 PM We arrive in Mitchell, SD. We go directly to the Corn Palace. What a place; all decorated with 12 different colors of corn cobs! We browse around a bit, look in the gift shop and make some pictures. Jo Ann and Jan even make new friends! Then on to the motel. 07:30 PM We check in at the Comfort Inn, unload the van, then go to the Country Kitchen Restaurant for some dinner. 08:30 PM We are back at the motel. We play rummy until about 10:30. Jan wins, yea! 11:00 PM Light out.
