Church on the ruin

Pier

We spent 3 hours at the mall working on the internet last night, and watching the ice skating. Not sure if there is something wrong with ice skating in a mall in Mexico, with the temps outside nearing 100.

Had Boston pizza for dinner while we watched the US soccer team beat Mexico. We were not cheering loudly!

We had planned to go see how the cotton hammocks are made today, but lost the guide at the first turn. Went on to the town of Progreso, which is on the Gulf of Mexico. They have a huge pier, since the Gulf is so shallow, but it is only for commercial vehicles so we could not walk out on it.

We drove up the coast and found a place where you can see the flamingo flocks in the wild. Unfortunately they were very shy, and all we could see was a streak of red in the distance. Trying to get behind them we found a little ruin, with a christian church built on top.

Sat on the beach. Corky wanted to come in the water after us, but was spooked by the waves. She was just like a little kid, up to her elbows then backing up when a wave came. We also tried out a stunt kite. Lots of wind, so a bit challenging but fun. Linda created a few crashes, but no damage.

Ended the day by washing the Jeep, grocery shopping, and trying to understand the Mexican cell phone we bought. Also helped make a 10 liter bucket of margaritas for our group dinner.
