On March 2nd we arrived at our home for the month of March. We are currently volunteering at L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park (northwest of Portland). This is Oregon's newest campground. As you can tell by the attached photos, not much is going on yet in our camp loop. Although the park is open year-round, and we currently have visitors staying in another camp loop and in the cabin village, our loop will not open for the summer season until March 15th...just in time for Spring Break.
In the meantime, we are helping to prepare the park for more campers. There is a local group of 150 volunteers coming in next Friday to help plant the shrubs and trees you see sitting in some of the campsites in the first photo. Thank goodness, they weren't planning to do it any sooner. We knew that we would still have cool weather in March, but we weren't prepared for what we woke up to yesterday morning....snow.
It is beautiful. We even took Murphy out for a stroll on the picnic table. Today we still have snow flurries, but a few breaks of sunshine mixed in.
Heading to Washington on April 1st.
