|It has been another in a series of fantastic 'free days' here in Mexico. About half of us carpooled and followed our fearless leaders on a journey to check out some of the local sites and attractions.
We started with a quick stop at Laguna Milagros, which is located just outside of town. From there it was off the Cenote Azul. This is the largest and deepest cenote in the world. It reminded us of a small lake. Now, right next to the cenote is Laguna Bacalar which has colors that have to be seen to be believed....trust us, the pictures don't do it justice.
After a quick stop at the bastille ( fort ) in the town of Bacalar, (they had problems with pirates here as well) we headed back to Chetumal. We parked in the downtown area and did some quick shopping at the local market. From here it was back to the campground to get ready for another in a series of group potlucks.
We have lots of pictures to share with you - hopefully they will give you an idea of what are day was like!
