Dave at Epcot

Lynda at one of the many countries.... This picture motivates me to...

Every village in each country was so beautiful.

Wandering minstrels were all so professional. We stood to watch these men...

Hello,

After a day of just being lazy.... trying to get over my cold... we used our last ticket and went to Epcot in Disney World. Just Dave and I. I really think most of Epcot is made for adults. Lots of walking and things to see, not very many rides at all.

The whole back circle of the place is little villages from all over the world. In each village you can see the unique architecture and shop in some stores that carry things the country is famous for. A few of them had a film with the history of the country. Needless to say Dave and I loved that whole section. Most of the day was spent there. We ate lunch in Germany... Bratwurst and sauerkraut. Fred would have enjoyed the dark beers, but I knew if I got one, I would be too tired to go on for so many more hours! Some of the other countries were Mexico, Morocco, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Canada, United States, China and Japan. I would have loved to buy a beautiful shirt that said 'Germany' for Moria, my German Granddaughter! (It was a bit expensive, so I didn't get it, then whined the whole rest of the tour because I didn't!) Fred (again) would have gone crazy in the English store with all the Beatle paraphernalia. Dave wanted to buy me a transparent Moroccan dress. He was sure the bright red would make it qualify for a valentine present! I pointed out that I would look like an elephant dressed for a circus parade in something like that.

I have to share a family story from long ago. When we were on a very snowy, slippery mountain in Germany many years ago. We were walking up a steep hill to visit a Castle... I would tell you which one, but I can't spell it! Dave started sliding backwards down the hill towards a drop off. As he passed me he handed me the camera.. but we were a very trusting family that knew our head of the household could stop himself before he went over the edge, so the 4 of us watched. Suddenly this tiny little Asian lady jumped between him and the edge saying...."Oh, oh, oh, oh" The two of them didn't go over the edge, and all of us love telling the story of that lady that hardly came up to his waist trying to save him. I tell you this story because while we were in Epcot, in the Japanese village, Dave missed the bottom step coming out of a garden, and fell flat on his face. Glasses flying... the whole embarrassing thing. As I tried helping him up, a little Japanese lady came running to help. She struggled with her English as she assisted us. She was so upset. She gave us some wet wipes to get the blood off his face and knees... again with the "Oh, oh, oh, oh." She had napkins in her purse, wanted to go get ice, etc etc. She was so concerned. It was really very nice. Lots of other people just stared! A few minutes later she found us and gave Dave a handful of "Japanese" candy. What a nice lady.

Well to round off the day we rode a rocket similator that left us on mars. Then we waited an hour in line to ride the newest ride in that park. Soarin'. It was a really neat, but 6 teenage girls got on with us, and they screamed at the top of their lungs most of the ride. My ears rang for an hour. It really was a beautiful thing... not that scary!

It was a good day. Dave came away with some scabs and bruises, but other then that it was a good day! LYNDA
